"I'll be back from the market soon. Don't get yourself into trouble. You're free to roam the apartment as always. Be careful, okay?"
Cry's words still hung in the air as Felix paced by the door anxiously. A few hours had passed and the miniature Swede had grown impatient, even irritated, waiting for Cry's arrival, to have someone there to play games and watch television with him. Someone to make pancakes and eat with him as they joked about the most ridiculous things that had happened to them in the past.
He was bored.
Felix sighed, finally giving in and leaning against the door frame, the frigid breeze from the hallway creeped in and curled around his minuscule form. It caressed his skin, barely touching it as it glided over the surface like gentle fingers, causing Felix to shiver and stand once more while hugging himself to maintain his warmth. He wandered into kitchen, making his way over to the cabinets. He expertly leaped up and swung his body back and forth, jumping from handle to handle until he reached the countertop. He pulled himself up onto the chilling surface, beginning to stroll on the polished marble counter, his feet slipping a few times due to his socks meeting the smooth exterior of the marble. Felix was pondering some thoughts as they rolled about in his mind, bouncing off his skull.
Wait. . .
Cry never said he had to stay in the apartment.
Felix smirked in some sort of devious way as he located the air vent that hung right above the refrigerator. He climbed up the side of the fridge, careful not to slip with his oversized socks that dangled loosely from his tiny feet. Tiny fingers gripped onto the magnets that were scattered aimlessly across the metallic refrigerator, allowing the small Swede to gain access to the top. Felix climbed over to edge, letting out a small whoop of victory as he trekked over to the air vent, pressing his face against the chilled bars. Feeling them for a moment, they felt as if they were ice, piercing through his delicate skin. Pulling away a bit, Felix slipped through two bars with ease, making his way down the echoing air vents. The tiny Swede took note of how much colder it was in the vents as it ruffled his blonde hair, pushing it back behind his face as he walked. He hung a right, feeling his way through the vents as he tried to map out how the apartment was connected to the hallway.
The small Swede saw the warm glow of light in the distance, causing him to jog towards it hastily. Pushing through, he tumbled out and landed on the leaves of one of the plants that were scattered around the apartment complex. Felix stood up and jumped down from the plant, brushing the dirt off himself. He looked around for a moment as he wiggled his toes in his socks, liking the feel of the warmth that seeped through his socks from the carpet below.
He spoke to himself for a moment, as if there were some imaginary being there to answer him, "Maybe I should go. . . That way. That's the way that Cry always goes when we go somewhere." He stated to nobody in particular, pointing off in the direction of the intersection where the elevator was located.
As Felix began to walk, he heard a soft singing come from the area. The closer he walked towards the elevator, the louder the singing.
"Un elefante in piedi su una ragnatela. Sentiva che era forte, non poteva essere pi¨ stretto."
A soft voice echoed throughout the hall, pulling Felix in with it's hypnotizing hands, tugging at him to come closer. He followed the soft voice, feet falling one behind the other as soft as rose petals, muffled by the carpet as he wandered towards the voice.
"╚ venuto il suo amico lý, ha chiamato a partecipare, due elefanti in piedi su una ragnatela."
The voice seemed to be coming from the plant that stood right by the elevator. Confused, Felix stopped in his tracks, looking up as he cocked his head to the left.
"What the hell?" He mumbled to himself once more. Curious as to know where the song was coming from, he climbed up the back of the pot, reaching up to the plant itself.
"Due elefanti in piedi su una ragnatela, sentivano che era forte, che non poteva essere pi¨ stretto."
The tiny Swede frowned, realizing the voice was coming from the other side of the plant. He tiptoed over, not caring if he got a bit of dirt on his snow white socks. Peering over the base of the plant, he felt his heart flutter.
He wasn't alone.
"╚ stato il loro amico ci hanno chiamato a partecipare, tre elefanti sono stati in piedi su una ragnatela."
There was someone like him.
She sat leaning her elbows against the pot, hands holding up her slightly tanned face that was concealed in a wall of caramel colored hair. Eyes were fluttered shut as the lyrics came dancing out from her mouth, something in a language Felix had yet to comprehend.
He felt his heart flutter, skip beats almost, as he watched silently. Warmth flooded into his cheeks as he slowly walked up to her, his body trembling slightly as he panicked.
What am I going to do?
He did the one thing he thought any gentleman would do when first meeting someone new. Someone who made your heart flutter and cheeks grow warm, who made your knees turn to jelly as your whole body wavered.
